I’ve been involved with graphic design and computers and software and programming for the better part of nearly three years now. I think in that time I’ve learnt a hell of a lot, and really expanded my skills in a great number of areas, which ultimately helped me no end at work as well. Having said that I’ve neglected a certain part of my creativity in my attempt to do other things. I’ve neglected my hand drawn art. The stuff that isn’t computer manipulated and drawning using freehand or expression or whatever, the bare basics of me, a sheet of white paper and a pencil. Simple equipment that given time and patience can produce magic in my ideas.
So I think I’m going to have to put a lot of the designing aspects on the backburner, maybe 2 hours a day on design maximum, and then spend the rest of the time on the business of artwork. I miss that feeling of a completed page that I can add in my pile like you wouldn’t believe, and I think it’s time I got that feeling back again.

This is the last thing I actually drew, some parts I’m proud of, others I do actually cringe at; I guess that’s what it means to be hypercritical of your own work really, and not accepting anything as the best, but rather always seeing room for improvement. The title will most definitely change, but for now, it’ll do just fine really.
Also this marks my 100th post for the year.
I really like the fact that although his expression is not clear, his body posture is incredibly strong. Whether it is negitive or positive is not immediatly clear. Guess I need a couple more frames and a bit of a story.
Still I think you are really talented. One of my favorite comics was “Ronin” but I have not been keeping up on this area for a long time.
Also, what do you think of Aeon Flux.. I love the imagry. Want to suggest something new for me?
Yeah, you see that’s just a character sketch that I was doing in order to get a feel for the main character. Even after I’d done my photoshop stuff to him, the picture just didn’t excite or inspire me. The story has been set since mid-february, and I thought I’d hammer the story through, that hasn’t been the case however, and I’m trying desperately to finish off the story by Christmas, not for any reason other than that’s when I started the damn thing.
I haven’t read Ronin, although Frank Miller who wrote and drew it is one of my favourite creators. If you liked that then there is like 3 series that will grab your interest in a big way. Lone Wolf and Cub, which inspired Frank, for the american editions (the only anglophone editions available) the first 8 covers are by Frank. HUGE influence on him.
Vagabond traces the life of Miyamoto Musashi another spectacular achievement by a guy who’d spent something like 6 years on a basketball story before delving into one of Japan’s greatest swordsman.
Finally a book I can recommend to anyone and get them initially interested from the tag line alone which is pretty solid, 100 Bullets.
Agent Graves comes to you with an attache case. In this case is 100 untracable bullets, and the proof of the person who’s screwed you up in your life. He doesn’t tell you to exact revenge, he merely provides you with the opportunity. What you choose to do with it is your decision.
Arguably one of the best series on the planet right now. 7 Graphic Novels are out right now, each building on the last, each will leave you scratching your head and asking all sorts of questions.
